For most folks operating qhd and uhd resolution displays you have to operate with win10 [ and win81 ] dpi scaling configured to something like 125% or 150% otherwise you'd better find yourself a strong pair of glasses.
When i operate screen to gif on my win10 rtm [ 10240.16384 ] device setup with dpi scaling configured it records and area of screen that doesn't match where i placed it. And even moving it to try and account for that offset doesn't produce a usable result.
To get an expected result i have to change my display dpi scaling to 100% at which point things work fine.
This all repros on a setup where i have a single dell 25” qhd display connected using display port to my lenovo onelink pro dock which is connected to my lenovo x1 carbon generation 2 device.
The ultrabook is always closed so my winkey + p setting is always configured with the pc screen only option since the external display is all windows sees when you have ultrabook lid closed.
The onelink pro dock connection is a pass through video connection for the devices intel hd graphics family gpu, i.e. there isn’t any funky displayport usb video connection scenario in place here.
Attached are repros of the unexpected result when i have desired 150% dpi scaling configured and expected result if i move to 100% dpi scaling.
Comments: Hi robertob, I'm aware of the DPI issues with the current version of ScreenToGif. Since last year, I'm developing a completely new version. You can test it now by downloading the attached Zip of the link thread: https://screentogif.codeplex.com/workitem/37 Btw, work is in progress.
