This has happened with Preview 10 and 11 version. It seems like when you go to save your file as a gif, the whole application freezes, not allowing you to close or force quit. You lose the work that you spent time on, so you have to periodically save your file "as is" so you can keep working on it. I use this application for my employer and spend practically seven hours a day with it. Not sure if this has to do with my computer and it's slow processing speed, but it still freezes regardless of the amount of other applications in use.
